Inventions are things which hadn’t existed before someone made up them, discoveries are things or places which had existed before someone found out them but we didn’t know about them.
From the most famous and important inventions I would like to mention Czech chemist and inventor Otto Wichterle, who is well-known mostly for his invention of soft contact lenses. Other important Czech inventor was Jaroslav Heyrovský, who received the Nobel Prize for the invention of polarographic method in 1959.
Of course we know discoverers such as Jan Janský, who discovered 4 blood groups A, B, AB and 0, or Sigmund Freud, Austrian psychiatrist, who explained free association method and interpretation of dreams. In my opinion the most famous discoverer is German scientist Albert Einstein. In 1999 he was named as the person of the century and he is often called genius. He formulated special and general theory of relativity and specifically mass–energy equivalence, expressed by the equation E = mc2. Einstein received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect."
I think that invention of electricity has had the greatest impact on mankind bcs nowadays we are dependent on it. We have machines and gadgets which need electricity and I can’t really imagine my life without the electricity. Today everyone has electric lights, electric cooker, TV, PC and much more electrical appliances.
