Is it cruel to keep animals in zoos? (essay)

Zoos are a very popular place for spending free time. Children love animals and want to see those, which they can’t meet every day and for adults it’s just an interesting place where to go with their family. But have you ever thought about its moral question? Is it not cruel to keep animals in zoos?

I don’t think so. Keepers take care of animals which live in zoos and so they have sometimes even better surroundings than in wild nature and it’s certainly safer.

Thanks to zoos many species still exist nowadays. Because there were saved and proliferated in zoos.
And when there are enough animals of one species the keepers take them back to wild nature, the zoos don’t want to have as many animals as possible.

There are, of course, also some negative aspects of keeping animals in zoos, but I think that it’s especially good institution.
