The sing „Sport for Health!“ can be seen at many places where we go to practice sports. It is true that sports help us to keep our bodies in good physical condition. They keep us in good mental condition as well, for they offer us refreshment, relaxation, and rest. Movement in the fresh air helps the blood circulation and cleans the lungs. Doing sports helps us lose a few of excess kilos.

The best way of cultivating the love of sports in people is to exrcise with them from early childhood. Special playgrounds are built for young sportmen with crawl-through structures, various obstacle courses and sandboxes.

In the modern world a positive attitude to sports is becoming some thing of trend and hit. Young people, and not just them, try to look sporty and dress in sporty clothes. We go to practice sports at various playgrounds, sports halls, coveder pools, stadiums, tennis courts, and fitness centres. A special type of relaxation is taking a sauna.

We can divide sports into three categories - summer, winter, and all-season sports. Among the summer sports are athletics, aquatic sports, balls games, cycling, mountain climbing, hiking, horse racing, motor-cycle racing, archery, skateboarding, parachuting, shooting with pistol or crossbow, roller, skating, and gliding. Among the winter sports are skiing, ski jumping, tobogganing, bobsledding, snowboarding, figure-skating, ice dancing, speed-skating, and ice hockey. Among the all-season sports are, for example, basketball, gymnastics, table tennis, wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, body-building, and spot dancing. Every one of us has the right to choose whatever sporting activity he likes. Individual sports require different equipment and make different demands on our physical stamina and time.

We can devote ourselves to sports either as individuals or as a collective-an entire team. Among such collective sports is soccet, hockey, basketball etc.

There are many beautiful places in our country that we can visit. As hikers we can set out for the mountains, the forest, or just walk around meadows. Walking in nature brings people relaxation and allows them to learn a lot of new things. It’s important to dress properly. One never knows what the weather is going to be like.

The most talented sportsmen can even take part in the Olympic Games. We distinguish Summer and Winter Olympic Games. They take place every four years. The first games were held in 776 BC. They were based on the customs of ancient Greeks. The Greeks placed an emphasis on muscular, well-proportioned, and strong bodies. Just as in earlier times in Greece, so also today competitions are held in many disciplines. Now, however, women have access to the Olympics as well. TheOlympic Games are international competiton and are great event in the world of sports. As reward for victory a sportsman may obtain a title, a bronze, silver, or gold medal, or other prizes as well.

If we do not want to devote ourselves to sports professionally, victory or loss does not have to be of concern to us. It’s good to simply enjoy the fact that we are moving and thus contributing to our good health and physicalccondition.
